Mary McMurtrie DA

  Mary McMurtrie (1902 - 2003). Born at Skene, Aberdeenshire in 1902. Studied at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen and gained Diploma in painting. For over forty years she ran a nursery of alpines and old garden flowers. She has collected and painted wild flowers of Kenya, of Scotland, and of the Algarve, Portugal, specialising in watercolours. She was elected to membership of the Society of Botanical Artists. She continued to paint and publish books until her death in 2003.
